Buonconvento

The village of Buonconvento, within the province of Siena, located at the confluence of the river Arbia in the river Ombrone. The village along with common Asciano, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme and San Giovanni d'Asso, is part of Circondario of Crete Senesi. The economy's main town is agriculture, not only understood in the strict sense, but also that of rural houses housing. The derivation of the name comes from the Latin "conventus bonus", that happy place, a place lucky. The village seems to have originated around the year 1100, while in 1371 was begun the construction of walls. During 1480 the city enters a part of the Republic of Siena, susseguita in 1559 by the Grand Duke of Tuscany. Along the main street is now well preserved at the Museum of Sacred Art of Val d'Arbia and many are also palaces Art Nouveau posts both within and outside the village.
